In Malaysia, international students must obtain a Student Pass to legally stay in the country for the duration of their academic program. This visa is issued to students who have received an official Letter of Acceptance from a recognized Malaysian educational institution.

Step-by-Step Guide for International Students

1. Prepare Your Application Documents

Before applying to a Malaysian university, gather the following required documents:

  • Valid Passport

  • Academic Transcripts and Certificates

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)

  • Motivation Letter

  • Letters of Recommendation

  • Passport-size Photographs

  • Proof of Financial Support

  • Medical Certificate

  • Health Insurance

2. Submit Your Application to the University

  • Application Method: Most universities in Malaysia provide an online application portal.

  • Application Fee: Some universities may charge a fee—check the university’s website for details.

3. Wait for the Admission Decision

  • If accepted, you will receive an Offer Letter (Letter of Acceptance) from the university.

  • This letter is essential for your Student Pass application.

  • Proof of Sufficient Funds

  • Medical Report / Health Check-up Results

5. Visa Approval and Travel to Malaysia

  • Once your Student Pass is approved, you will receive confirmation and can begin making travel arrangements.

  • Visa Duration: The visa is usually valid for the duration of your study program. For courses longer than 12 months, renewals may be required.

6. Arrival and Registration in Malaysia

  • University Registration: Upon arrival, report to your university and complete registration by submitting any required documents.

  • Immigration Registration: You must register with the Malaysian Immigration Department within the first two weeks of arrival to finalize your Student Pass (Residence Permit).

7. Start Your Academic Journey

  • Once your registration is complete and your Student Pass is activated, you’re ready to begin your studies.

  • Attend the orientation, register for courses, and follow the university’s academic guidelines.
